Manners and Etiquette
What are Manners?
Manners are a combination of our own self-awareness and the respect we have for others. They teach us how to handle situations and allow us to feel good about ourselves. Having good manners leaves others with a good first impression of you and makes them more likely to want to help you in the future. Broken down further, manners tell us how to treat people and handle ourselves in specific situations.
At times you may hear the word etiquette being used when people talk about manners. Etiquette teaches us how to act in different situations just like manners, but a persons etiquette changes based upon their culture or the group they are apart of. For example people from different countries have different manners than we do when they eat and give and/or receive a gift. Additionally, etiquette sets the expectations for they way we should  act and treat others when we are involved in certain events such as a meeting, trying to get in the next pick-up basketball game, or what we should bring to a sleep over.
