Work First, Then Play
Habit #3, "A Place for Everything" means exactly what you would think it would mean; Put the things use you back where they belong when you are finished using them! Simply put, "put your things away!"
There is a spot for everything we own. Our shoes have a spot in our room or next to our door, our fire engine truck and doll house have a spot in our toy box or in our closet, our toothbrush has a spot in the cabinet or in the toothbrush holder, our milk has a spot in the refrigerator. But why? We put everything in it's own spot so we can find it next time we look for it. It always seems like the one time we decide to not put something away in the right spot, that we have no idea where to find it the next time we really need it! Being neat and organized not only helps us find what we are looking for when we need it, but it also looks good to!
"A Place for Everything" is also teaches us about prioritizing, or doing the most important things first and waiting to do the things that we don't need to get done right away second. In other words, we need to do our work first so we can have fun later. By planning the things we need to do ahead of time we will have more time for the things that we want to do. For example, if we plan to get our homework done as soon as we get home from school, then we will have more time to spend doing what we want for the rest of night. However, if we decide to do whatever we want when we get home from school right away, we may not get much time to do it because will be have to do out homework later! Using a calendar, planner, or chart can be a big help when trying to get your work done first so you can play more later!!
What are some areas in your house or some things in your room that you can put away in the right place?
